The Agency will be featured in a segment on "Commercial Business Development Solutions" as part of a series on Pulse on Business. It will be aired on the Travel Channel nationally, and on CNN Headline News regionally at the top and bottom of the hour.
Amherst, NY, a suburb of Buffalo, is where 70% of the growth in Western New York over the past ten years has taken place, and their employment opportunities have grown 139%. Research shows that 125 companies in Amherst plan facility and/or employment expansion within the next two years.
This ongoing success is a direct result of using the same philosophies that are employed by successful companies operating in the global marketplace. By collaborating and leveraging a network of assets, such as the State University of New York at Buffalo and effective planning, the right environment is in place for knowledge-based companies to remain successful and grow.

Founded in 1973 to promote regional employment growth through the attraction, expansion and retention of companies within the Town of Amherst, the Agency provides a solution to the a company's needs in the desired timeframe. The Agency also is a leader redeveloping older areas of the community by helping small and neighborhood businesses to invest in their properties and improve the community.
Over 700 companies have been assisted representing approximately $1 billion in capital investment. Their projects have also created/retained over 30,000 jobs and stabilized both municipal and school district tax bases.
Amherst IDA is known for promoting growth while maintaining the assets of the area, and some of its methods and ideas will be spotlighted in the program. The area continues to be a nationally recognized location by the number of back-office/call centers located in the Town, for example, including Citigroup, GEICO and Bank of America.
