/Television News Articles/ - DEERFIELD, BEACH, FL - August 02, 2006 - Platinum Television Group is pleased to announce the selection of Cancer Fund of America for its innovative, educational television series, Today's Family.

Cancer patients are living an average of five years longer than they did in the 1970's, and while this is good news, this life extension is very costly due to the high cost of treatment and medications. Now in its 21st year,The Cancer Fund of America (CFA) works to provide aid to indigent patients of this devastating disease. Each year 1.3 million people are diagnosed with cancer. People have twice the risk today of developing cancer as our grandparents did. CFA helped over 70,000 cancer victims and their families last year.

CFA helps patients by providing services, supplies, and support for covering the gap that insurance leaves. CFA relieves the financial burden for victims and their families through financial and supply allocations direct and/or through hospices and other health care professionals. Funds are spent on assisting cancer victims, not for research. And funds are raised via door-to-door collections, vehicle and property donations, company matched donations, and telemarketing. CFA procures new products from companies via purchase and donations.

CFA has many different items warehoused and available to patients and hospice and other health care providers. These items include personal hygiene care kits, liquid nutritional supplements, food items, gift packs, and much more. The CFA website offers live chat for cancer victims and their families, and a very easy-to-navigate cancer information and multi-media web center.

Today's Family will feature Cancer Fund of America on its show "Models of Excellence - Benevolent Organizations." The show will discuss the organization's background and the services it provides, such as its practical needs-meeting capacity. It will highlight the overall operations of the charity, including life-changing stories from those who have been touched by its services.
