LOS ANGELES, CA, November 23, 2008 /Television News Articles/ -- Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) - the world leader in faith-based and family friendly television programming - celebrates Thanksgiving all week long with its season premiere of Italian-born director Franco Zeffirelli's Emmy-nominated classic, Jesus of Nazareth.

Shot on location in Italy and the United Kingdom, the six-hour mini-series - scheduled to air over four nights beginning Monday, November 24 at 7 PM (PST) - is an epic portrayal of Christ's birth, his life, the miracles he performed, his encounter with John the Baptist, and his crucifixion, death, and resurrection according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Jesus of Nazareth is storytelling at its best; passionate and sensitive, the film begins at the beginning with the wedding of Joseph and Mary, and eventually unveils the humanity and divinity of Christ in a style that will captivate viewers, regardless of their beliefs or background.

A thorough, reverent depiction of Christ's life, TV Guide calls Jesus of Nazareth "unparalleled television" and "the best mini-series of all time."

The stellar cast of the 1977 classic series includes Robert Powell as Jesus Christ, Anne Bancroft in the role of Mary Magdalene, as well as memorable performances by Ernest Borgnine, James Farentino, James Earl Jones, Stacy Keach, James Mason, Laurence Olivier, Donald Pleasence, Christopher Plummer, Anthony Quinn, Rod Steiger, Peter Ustinov, Michael York, and Ian Holm.

"TBN's Thanksgiving premiere of Jesus of Nazareth is another example of the network's commitment to broadcasting with heart and soul," says Susan Zahn, founding director of WDC Media and publicist for TBN. "Watching Jesus of Nazareth will remind viewers of why they can always depend on TBN to fulfill both their spiritual and entertainment needs."
