Jennifer Zeng Named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Writing and Human Rights Advocacy
Jennifer Zeng is the award-winning author of "Witnessing History: One Woman's Fight for Freedom and Falun Gong"
NEW YORK, NY, February 2, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ --Jennifer Zeng, Freelance Writer and Journalist for New Tang Dynasty Television, was recently named a VIP of the Year by Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.
A skilled journalist, Ms. Zeng has successfully transformed a harrowing life experience into exceptional and important writing. Ms. Zeng, who was born in Sichuan, China in 1966, began following the spiritual discipline of Falun Gong in 1997 because she found it effective in easing an illness from which she suffered. When the government of the People's Republic of China began persecuting people involved with the practice, Ms. Zeng was among them. After being arrested four times, she was sent to the Beijing Municipal Women's Re-Education-Through-Labor Camp, where residents received physical and mental abuse, were put to work in appalling conditions, were subjected to attempted brainwashing, and faced electroshock treatments. These measures were taken to force practitioners of Falun Gong to betray their beliefs, which are based on the ideals of truth, compassion and tolerance. After being assessed as rehabilitated, Ms. Zeng obtained a visa and fled to Australia.
Propelled by a personal mission to expose the Chinese government's unlawful punishment of followers of Falun Gong, Ms. Zeng recounted her experiences in a book entitled "Witnessing History: One Woman's Fight for Freedom and Falun Gong." Likening the crimes against humanity in China to the Holocaust, she garnered national attention through her words. The English version of the book, which was published in both America and Australia, as well as the Chinese version "Still Water Runs Deep (Jing Shui Liu Shen)", which was published in Taiwan, have become international best sellers. Today, Ms. Zeng works as a journalist for New Tang Dynasty Television, reporting on news to the Chinese community. She is also a human rights advocate who continues to stand up for Falun Gong, which has more than one hundred million followers.
Ms. Zeng earned a Bachelor of Science in geochemistry in 1988. She went on to receive a Master of Science in geochemistry from Peking University. Ms. Zeng is a nationally accredited translator of English and Chinese. She now resides in the United States, where she continues to utilize her writing and advocacy skills to fight for those facing injustice in China.
